Numerical Simulation of Stem Waves along a Wave-Dissipating Breakwater

Abstract

A fully nonlinear dispersive numerical model based on non-linear mild-slope equations is developed to clarify the characteristics of stem waves in shallow water. Simulation of wave transformation along a wave-absorbing breakwater indicates the occurence of stem waves, with comparison of numerical, analytical, and experimental results showing good agreement.
