Abstract
The High Speed Passenger Conveyor consists of several parts in line: (1) an accelerator, (2) a high-speed section, and (3) a decelerator. The accelerator and the decelerator consist of meshed rollers, with a low axis to axis distance, rotating in the same direction at increasing or decreasing speeds. The high-speed Section is a conventional conveyor belt moving at a constant speed of 3 m/s. Two transition plates have been installed between the variators and the high-speed section. They are fitted with freely rotating spheres. At each side of the tread surface, a variable speed handrail, compared to a "caterpillar", has been developed.
