Abstract
The ULTra (Urban Light Transport) system has emerged from a systematic study of fundamental requirements of an effective and sustainable transport system for the new century. The innovative Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system which resulted from this analysis features electrically powered 4 person vehicles with a target gross weight of 800 kg and a continuous power requirement of 2kW. Special emphasis has been placed on minimising the cost and visual intrusion of the infrastructure.
