Abstract
This paper provides background information on MIA and the unique challenges that led to the planning and the implementation decision for the MIC/MIA Connector. It also examines pertinent issues such as ridership components and critical landside system planning issues such as baggage handling and comparisons with other US airport landside APM systems. Other topics examined by this paper include the critical aspects of the project and the fact that the implementation must occur in an OPERATING AIRPORT, resulting in unique schedule and budget risks/challenges. The resulting Management Plan and procurement strategies to mitigate these risks are also discussed.
