Time-Dependent Eddy Viscosity Models for Wave Boundary Layers

Abstract

The prediction of coastal sediment transport depends mainly on the turbulence model used in the oscillatory boundary layer. In this paper, two time-dependent eddy viscosity models are presented. The first is based on turbulence measurements over fixed bed and the second corresponds to measurements over mobile bed. We introduced into these models the entropy correction function at flow reversal. In order to provide simple models for practical uses in coastal engineering, we have parameterized the friction velocity and the boundary layer thickness.
