Calibrating the VonHoff/Helweg Model
Authors: Fred VonHoff, Scott Korom, and Otto J. HelwegAuthor Affiliations
Publication: Building Partnerships
Abstract
VonHoff and Helweg have developed a well simulation model that captures most of the hydrodynamics of the well system by coupling the three main governing equations, Jacob, orifice, and energy. The calibration of the constants of these equations has been derived from the literature rather than developed rigorously from laboratory conditions. This paper gives the results of lab tests done on a quasi-full scale well model to determine the various loss coefficients, which enhances the usefulness of the simulation model.
