Wood Diaphragm and Shear Wall Deflections

Abstract
The determination of wood diaphragm and shear wall deflections needs to be considered in the structural design of buildings. These deflections calculations are not being made by engineers because many engineers are not aware of how perform these calculations nor the code requirements for diaphragm and shear wall deflections. Many wood diaphragms are actually considered rigid rather than the previous practice of assuming flexible diaphragms.
