Study of Inelastic Spectra with High Damping
Publication: Journal of Structural Engineering
Volume 115, Issue 6
Abstract
A statistical study of yield spectra with high damping is presented. A set of 10 earthquake records is used as input ground motions for elastoplastic single degree of freedom systems with damping ratios from 10% to 50%. Ductility ratios considered range from 1 to 6. From the statistics of the response spectra, parameters for constructing design spectra are derived and procedures described. Average effect of increasing damping on spectral response is presented.
