Unified Approach to Modeling Post‐Cracking Membrane Behavior of Reinforced Concrete

Publication: Journal of Structural Engineering
Volume 115, Issue 4

Abstract

A unified approach to modeling the post‐cracking behavior of a reinforced concrete element is presented. The three aspects of the problems, the steel‐concrete interface interaction, the constitutive properties of the materials, and the concrete tension‐compression failure interaction are studied independently. The unified approach is applied to the panels tested by Vecchio and Collins at the University of Toronto. A good agreement between the analytical and the experimental results is obtained.
