Abstract
A method has been developed that gives analytical solutions for estimation of the standard deviations σy and σz in the Gaussian model from observed data without requiring knowledge of the change in wind direction. With a defined concentration ratio term, R, estimates for σy can be obtained by solving the Gaussian model. By introducing a dimensionless concentration factor, c ′, estimates for σz can be approximated at different downwind ranges. This method can be used in field applications and also for model calibration and verification.
