Editor’s Note

Publication: Journal of Pipeline Systems Engineering and Practice
Volume 2, Issue 1
As we enter our second year of publication, I am happy to inform you that we are continuing to grow. The rate of high-quality original papers submitted to the Journal has increased, and currently we have exceeded our expectations for the number of papers submitted as well as the number of subscriptions sold.
In other exciting news, two major conferences are being organized for 2011. Plans for the upcoming annual ASCE International Pipeline Conference on July 23–27, 2011, in Seattle, Washington, with the theme of “A Sound Conduit Infrastructure’s Hidden Assets,” is well under way. We have received a large number of exciting and original papers, and opportunities exist for workshops, exhibits, and sponsorships. More information can be found at http://content.asce.org/conferences/pipelines2011/.
Another upcoming major event is the ASCE International Conference on Pipelines and Trenchless Technology, to be held October 26–29, 2011, in Beijing, China. More information about this event can be found at http://www.icptt.org/index.php/Submission/en_index. Looking ahead to the future, we have the 2012 Pipelines Conference scheduled for Miami, Florida, and the 2013 Pipelines Conference scheduled for Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas. In conjunction with the 2012 conference, we will have the ASCE Research Workshop, which is held every 6years (the last one was held in 2006 in Chicago). It is expected that this workshop will prioritize pipeline research needs with active participation from industry, government, and academia. A special issue of the Journal will cover this unique workshop.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work of ASCE’s publications staff as well as our paper reviewers and associate editors. Please continue to submit your high-quality papers. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Journal’s Editorial Manager website at http://www.editorialmanager.com/jrnpseng/. Please also contact us with any questions or comments.
