Abstract
Soil pressure gages were installed in a crushed limestone backfill of a bomb damaged runway. Measurements were made due to static and dynamic aircraft, C-130 and F-4E, wheel loads. Static pressures are compared to pressure predictions from a nonlinear, finite element computer code and indicate a good correlation. Dynamic pressures correlated with static pressures indicate 25%-50% lower pressures.
