Safety Studies Related to RRR Projects
Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 108, Issue 4
Abstract
The Federal Highway Administration has several research efforts specifically aimed at determining the impact of the Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) Program and, in general, the improvements often associated with RRR projects on safety. Studies that analyze traffic accident data are presented. The safety implications of resurfacing, skid resistance, lane and shoulder width delineation, and the removal of roadside and fixed objects are discussed.
