Abstract
Equations necessary for the examination of basic pipeline stresses and deflections are detailed in a sequential format. Three generalized cases are presented: (1)Hoop stress analysis; (2)longitudinal forces analysis; and (3)lateral forces and displacement analysis. Supplemental tables, nomographs, and example problems are also presented to aid in accomplishing an equation solution. While emphasis is on gas pipelines, the equations are applicable to liquid lines under similar conditions.
