Park-Ride Operations in Seattle Metropolitan Area
Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 104, Issue 4
Abstract
The regional transit system in Seattle is rapidly developing as one of the most modern of all bus systems in the country. Current expansion is guided by a plan for 1980 which makes innovative use of Park-Ride lots supplemented by a network of freeway Flyer transfer points. These system concepts are being applied at an unprecedented scale in order to provide extensive suburban coverage with relatively low cost. The primary difficulties encountered by this system development are in the areas of ridership forecasting and site selection.
