Characterization of Lime-Fly Ash Concrete Pavement under Load

Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 104, Issue 2

Abstract

This study reports the stress-deformation characteristics of adequately matured lime-fly ash concrete pavement laid to a model scale over a realistic soil subgrade and subjected to static loading at critical locations. Limited study was also carried over a full-scale test track laid in the field and loaded with an actual test vehicle. The measurements indicate distribution of load by slab action similar to conventional cement concrete pavements. In the elastic range of loading the observations agree well with the theoretical results predicted by the writers idealizing the subgrade as a Hookean solid continuum. The conventional Winkler subgrade assumption required a correction coefficient for its meaningful predictions which could be evaluated from the test data.
