Volume 102, Issue 2
Abstract
During recent years maintenance material, personnel, and equipment costs increased rapidly. Demands for cost effective maintenance-management systems have accelerated. The Kansas Department of Transportation utilizes a maintenance-management system that has proven to be effective in controlling utilization of materials, personnel, and equipment. Computerized inventory master detail listings, static inventory listings, work accomplishment reports, work programs, repair shops work accomplishment reports, and shop mechanics accomplishment reports are utilized in the system. Flexibility is built into each report and listing enabling an engineer to adapt each to his desires.
