Abstract
In an effort to provide guidance to the Twin Cities Area Metropolitan Transit Commission in the establishment of transportation goals and objectives, an in-depth home interview attitude survey was conducted. The survey was specifically tailored to measure the opinions of the community concerning the role of the transit system, the need for the development of new transit systems and other key transportation issues. The relationship between certain socioeconomic and travel characteristics of the respondent and his opinion on specific issues, as well as the interdependence between various public views, are also analyzed. The results of this survey provided valuable assistance to the Metropolitan Transit Commission in the review and evaluation of the specific public policies.
