Time to Think: Address at the Summer Convention, Buffalo, NY, June 5, 1957

Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 122, Issue 1

Abstract

Speed has crowded reflective thought very nearly out of our lives. In this age, pure thinking is an almost complete casualty-as much so as walking or reading good literature. The newer influences tend to reject or to obviate or to depreciate contemplation. We have done little to resist the currents which have swept us along the path of diminishing individual thought.
