Abstract
A brief history of the development of the high-strength bolt is presented, together with a resume of the development of specifications for field assembly using high-strength bolts. The use of the pneumatic wrench and procedures for determining bolt tension are described. Numerous examples of use of high strength bolts are cited and illustrated.
