Water Pollution Control by Interstate Cooperation: A Symposium: Sanitation Commission for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut

Abstract
The Interstate Sanitation Commission is an agency of the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, functioning through a tri-state compact, and the legislation of the respective states. Its jurisdiction extends from Sandy Hook in New Jersey, through New York Harbor (including Arthur Kill, the Kill van Kull, and Newark Bay), up the Hudson River in New York f:ltate to tho northern lines of Westchester and Rockland counties just above Bear Mountain Bridge. In Long Island Sound, it extends to New Haven, on the Connecticut shore, Port Jefferson, N. Y., on the north shore of Long Island, and on tho Atlantic Ocean front to Fire Island Inlet. In general, this jurisdiction coverK only the coastal, estuarial, and tidal waters.
