Abstract

The City of Los Angeles, Calif., has undertaken what is probably one of the most carefully planned and executed programs for the control and elimination of cross connections of any city in the United States. This is the outcome of development work started by the City Department of Water and Power, at first acting alone but gradually acquiring the cooperation of all governmental units having jurisdiction, which act in unison through a joint committee. The purpose of this paper is to describe briefly some of the factors which enter into the development of this program, the formation of the joint committee, and results accomplished.
