Abstract
The study of column test data which the Committee had partly completed and reported upon in January, 1926, made it appear desirable to conduct some experiments along certain lines on relatively small columns before completing its report. Accordingly, certain tests were planned and carried out during the past two years, which have yielded some results of value and which wi11 be considered in this report. It wi11 be desirable, as a matter of convenience, to describe these tests and present the principal results before going on with the discussion in the order intended in the first report. This report, therefore, will consist of two parts : Part I is a de scription of the tests referred to, and Part II a continuation of the general report, as outlined in the Progress Report of 1926.
