Abstract
The logging industry as a whole, not only employs a great number of engineers, but develops men faster along engineering lines than any other businetis. It does not necessarily follow that all engineers may become sucessful loggers or that all loggers are engineers, but it is necessary for the logger, in order to be successful, to develop quick and sound judgment aloug engineering lines, whether trained in the Engineering Profession or not. It iH interesting to note the ingenious ways and means devised, in order to get results with the least amount of equipment which is always inaccessible and often inadcquate, except wire rope, which is one of the most important requiremcnts. The everpresent wire rope in the woods is no doubt rusponsible for the varied methods utilized for the transportation of logs, the most important of which are briefly explained.
