Abstract
The object of this paper is to present data showing the area covered by excessive rainfall of short duration based on measurements made in the Boston, Mass., Metropolitan District, at New Orleans, La., and the results of one observation at Cambridge, Ohio; also to call attention to the paucity of data relating to certain other factors entering into the design of storm-water drain s by the so-called "Rational Method", and to stimulate interest in these matters in the hope that additional studies and measurements may be undertaken, that will make it possible to draw more definite conclusions than are now feasible.
