Abstract
The successful operation of a large irrigation project is a task that requires both engineering skill and business ability. The tendency toward larger projects is an inevitable one in the West; some of them now cover 300 sq. miles of territory, and include several goodly-sized cities within their boundaries. Within these communities the highest type of agricultural development is to be found. Small holdings and intensive cultivation is the keynote of success, both from the standpoint of the management and of the agriculturist.
