Abstract
On March 16th, 1909, the Chamber of Commerce of the State of New York appointed a special committee to “make a study, from the standpoint of the requirements of the world's shipping, of the problems involved in the construction of the Canal at Panama, and report what, in its opinion, should be done, engineering and financial considerations permitting, to make the Canal best subserve the needs, for all time to come, of a constantly expanding commerce.”
