Abstract
An analytical model for computing the frictional resistance to flow in rough pipes based on the geometric characteristics of the roughness elements on the boundary is developed. The the resistance coefficient is facilitated by charts which relate the projected area of the roughness elements to the velocity distribution. The results of computations are compared with experimental results for different types of artificial and natural roughness.
