Abstract
A method of calculating bed-load transport is presented. This method takes advantage of the rapid bathymetric surveys that can be made in large rivers. The proposed equation is based on sediment continuity and an assumption for the base level of zero transport. Experimental data were obtained in a series of flume tests and the measured transport rates are compared with the calculated transport rates using the proposed equation. Comparisons are also made with the Ackers-White Equation.
