Abstract
Three general problems associated with the performance of environmental assessments are identified. The first is the problem of defining the scope of study, including geographic boundaries, level of detail, and use of the assessment. The second category concerns problems involving interdisciplinary team organization and communication. The third problem relates to selection of the appropriate methodology to use in performing the assessment. An analyses of these problems along with suggested approaches for their solution is presented.
