Dispersion in Nonuniform Seepage

Abstract
General equations are derived which describe the dispersion of a pollutant in three-dimensional, nonuniform seepage. These equations are obtained by assuming that the principal directions of the dispersion tensor are tangential and normal to the streamlines, and the final result is shown to agree with the results of previous investigations only when the two principal values of the dispersion tensor are written in a form which, in general, may not agree with experimental results. The advantages of using this model to compute numerically the concentrations of a pollutant form piezometric head field data are pointed out.
