Abstract
A rapid computation of routed flood hydrographs in circular sewers was required for use in the evaluation of the effect of storm flooding in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Interceptor sewers. The method of characteristics is used to provide the accurate assessment of the routed hydrograph but this method requires a comparatively large amount of computer time. The progressive average-lag method is used to carry out the evaluation in real time. The routing constants in the latter method are determined by comparing the results from the former with those of the latter until good agreement is obtained. It has not been possible to determine the routing constants in the latter method analytically.
