Abstract
In a companion paper to a recent study of cavitation and energy dissipate in conduit expansions, the writers present measurements of the magnitude and scale of boundary pressure fluctuations in the zone of turbulent diffusion for non-cavitating flow at three different expansion ratios. In analyzing these measurements, six statistical aspects of the fluctuation in pressure are proposed for consideration, in addition, those involving cavitation, for the structural design of expansion chambers as energy dissipators.
