Abstract
Measurement of resistance to turbulent flow in 8 rough conduits of various cross sectional forms; analysis of results indicated that diameter of inscribed circle is better linear scale to use in Reynolds and relative roughness terms of Nikuradse and Colebrook-White resistance equations than hydraulic diameter, and relative efficiency of variety of ordinary conduit forms can be significantly expressed by dimensionless ratio of inscribed circle diameter over hydraulic diameter.
