Abstract
Simple, practical method is proposed for computation of water surface profiles; method is advantageous when several backwater profiles must be determined in channel; assumption is that velocity of flow is not uniformly distributed over area of any cross section; effect of bend losses, bridge-pier losses, and losses owing to change in shape of cross section can be included when necessary.
