Capacitance Method of Measuring Water Film Thickness

Abstract
In connection with study of transport of radioactive particulate contaminants by water sheets, rapid measurements of depth of water sheet flowing on plane surface became necessary; development of water film thickness gage using electrical capacitance between fixed metal plate and water surface to sense air gap and, by use of differences, measure water depth; dynamic range of instrument was 0. 130 in. with accuracy of plus or minus 0.003 in.
