Node Factor Variations and Joint Occurrences

Abstract
In constructing exceedance frequency distributions for extremal heights resulting from joint occurrences of tsunamis or storm surges and the astronomical tide, a period of time for the analysis must be selected if direct numerical approaches are used. It is shown that if a particular year is selected for the analysis, the affect of the temporal variation in the lunar node factor on the exceedence frequency distribution is negligible.
