Abstract

To obtain quietness within a harbor enclosure it is necessary to prevent energy from entering or, to dampen it after it enters. Small craft are responsive to short period waves, which may be effectively reduced within the enclosure. An investigation is underway to determine the response of small craft to various oscillations within a basin. Investigations have also been made of absorbing short period waves using rubble wave absorbers and by using narrow channels with rubble lining. Brief description of the investigations and data obtained are presented.
