Alternatives to Stone in Breakwater Construction

Abstract
Type of construction depends on economic considerations, depth, and salinity of water, severity of storms and availability of materials; difficulty in obtaining armor stone resulted in investigation of concrete castings in form of rectangular blocks, tetrahedrons, and tetrapods; advantages of this type of construction indicate feasibility in breakwater work.
