Project Planning

The engineer-manager recognizes the importance of the survey to the entire project in Project Planning, develops a comprehensive survey plan which will provide the needed data in the most convenient form, and assures continuous supervision of survey operations to insure successful completion. He must be familiar with the capabilities of modern survey equipment and procedures, and the competence and experience of survey personnel, be aware of the importance of the nontechnical aspects of the survey program, not the least of which is public relations. He knows that engineering surveying is that discipline of civil engineering concerned with the professional planning, development, and implementation of systems of geometric and other physical measurements and their use in planning, designing, constructing, and monitoring the entire range of site, area, and regional developments which are included in practice of civil engineering.
