Navigation Charting for Inland Waterways
Publication: Journal of the Surveying and Mapping Division
Volume 95, Issue 1
Abstract
Recognizing the economic potential of the Tennessee River for both commercial navigation and pleasure boating, the TVA has encouraged these uses of the river through the development of a well marked, deep water channel, the publication of navigation charts, and periodic inspections. Multicolor charts showing the sailing line and navigation aids cover the entire waterway. Chart preparation, both field and office procedures, is outlined in this paper. Basic sources of data and equipment employed are mentioned.
