Surveying in Civil Engineering Education
Publication: Journal of the Surveying and Mapping Division
Volume 93, Issue 1
Abstract
Demands for surveying education come from three general groups: (1) The civil engineer who needs only a general background; (2) the civil engineer who plans to make surveying a major part of his career; and (3) the man who wants to specialize in surveying or some specific phase of it. Currently, none of these groups are being satisfied by the surveying education available. It is believed that these needs can best be met within the framework of our present civil engineering curriculum by the proper use of elective credits and an undergraduate option system together with a good graduate program. It is believed that a summer training course is desirable, if not essential, to the success of the program.
