Photogrammetry and Highway Law

Abstract
The increasing number of land measurement transactions for various government projects has caused the development of photogrammetry as a method of land measurement. One of the problems of this development has been the admissibility of photogrammetrically prepared exhibits into court and other legal proceedings. Demonstrative evidence, particularly in the form of aerial photographs and other photogrammetrically prepared exhibits, has great potential in the field of eminent domain. Research of the relevant case law indicates that admissibility of demonstrative evidence generally has been a question for the discretion of the trial judge in any given litigation. The use of photogrammetry will increase as its possibilities become evident and as legislatures revise their statutes to recognize photogrammetry as a metrical science.
