Planning and Design of Aerotriangulation Projects

Publication: Journal of the Surveying and Mapping Division
Volume 90, Issue 2

Abstract

To assure acceptable results in aerotriangulation projects, thorough planning is necessary. Design criteria for the determination of the flying height, flight pattern, and the type and minimum density of ground control are reviewed and examined. An example is used to demonstrate the determination of the minimum density of ground control as a function of the accuracy required and the photogrammetric system used. The most commonly used measures of precision are investigated, and the relationships between them are given.
