Effect of Sampling on Compressibility of Soft Clay
Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 99, Issue 12
Abstract
This study was conducted to compare the one-dimensional compressibility of perfect samples and undisturbed samples with the simulated in situ conditions for normally consolidated saturated clays. Results show that large stress changes accompanying the sampling processes which do not cause large strains have very little influence on the compressibility of clay.
