Rectangular Loads on Inhomogeneous Elastic Soil

Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 99, Issue 10

Abstract

As the degree of inhomogeneity of a soil increases, there is a decrease in the effect of loads at some distance from the point at which settlement is measured. However, with an increase of inhomogeneity the importance of Poisson’s ratio on the settlements increases significantly. Numerical results are presented.
