Mean Pore Sizes from Flow Measurements
Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 99, Issue 7
Abstract
A method is described in this note for determining the mean pore size of a porous plug from direct current measurements and hydraulic flows. This study deals with fitted glass disks having properties similar to a spectrum of soils ranging from a fine sand to a silty clay whose mean pore size can be determined by combining current characteristics with hydraulic permeability. The technique also appears promising for inactive clay.
