Predicting Effective Stress Paths
Publication: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division
Volume 97, Issue 8
Abstract
The empirical pore pressure parameters A and B presented by Skempton have formed the primary basis of solving for the effective stresses acting in a soil mass stressed under undrained conditions. This study is concerned with relating volume changes in drained tests and pore pressures in undrained tests using a stress-controlled loading procedure which allows predetermined stress paths to be followed.
