Abstract
Heavy industrial installations were successfully founded on ground which had been preloaded to reduce settlements. The construction site is 13 km west of the city of Patras, Greece, on the seashore of the Korinthian gulf. The installations are part of a cement plant built by the Hellenic Cement Company, which was formed jointly by Titan Cement Company and American Cement International.
