Abstract
Small footings on sand have been subjected to static and dynamic loads; load-displacement characteristics for static loading from 82 tests are correlated for square, circular, and rectangular footings; loaddisplacement curves and typical sand failure patterns are examined, and compared with Terzaghi equations; energy of impact is correlated with settlement for 57 tests; differences in failure are shown in photographs.
